For Immediate Release

LISA are really recycling fishing line the UK

Most fishing line ends up in landfill

Unlike many other landfill schemes we are actually recycling used fishing line. If the estimated 4 million UK anglers only renew 100m of line per year that amounts to 400,000 km of line, enough to stretch around the world approximately 10 times. Previous schemes have collected line that ultimately ends up in landfill sites as does the line that is disposed of by anglers in domestic waste. Our scheme collects line and dispatches it to a specialist recycling company in Scandanavia where it is used to make plastic products.

Used fishing line recycling stations are now sited at tackle shops across the southern counties and spreading across the whole of the UK, Participating outlets have been given special recycling bins and window stickers. It is hoped that outlets taking part will offer incentives to their customers to recycle old fishing line.

The first participating outlets are listed below and the scheme will be extended to any outlets who wish to participate

  • Anglers Den (Pevensey, East Sussex)
  • Prime Angling (Worthing, West Sussex)
  • Lagoon Tackle (Hove, Wesy Sussex)
  • Tools n Tackle (Newhaven, East Sussex)
  • Seaford Sea Angler (Seaford, East Sussex)
  • Angling Specialist (Horsham, West Sussex)
  • Big Fish Little Fish (Liskeard, Cornwall)
  • Aldwick Angling (Bognor, West Sussex)
